SmoothMock

About SmoothMock

We built the mock test we couldn't find.

Three of us, prepping for IELTS in Nepal, tired of paying for mock tests that gave us a number and nothing else. So we built one that actually explains itself.

No credit card. Free mocks, no subscription needed.

An IELTS grading report showing band scores and detailed mistake taxonomy breakdown

How it started

SmoothMock started with three of us in Nepal, all preparing for IELTS at the same time. Booking a real mock test meant paying a coaching center for one attempt, sitting across from someone reading the same script they read for the last candidate, and getting a band number back with no explanation of what to fix. Slots filled up weeks ahead, right when we needed practice the most: the week before the actual exam.

So we started building something for ourselves. A test that ran on the real band descriptors, graded the same way every time, and told us exactly which mistakes were costing us marks.

While digging into how test centers actually score speaking and writing, we kept running into PTE candidates describing the same problem: high fees for one attempt, feedback that didn't explain anything, no way to see a pattern in what they kept getting wrong. We're building SmoothMock for IELTS first, so the grading and the mock experience are actually right before we expand. PTE is next, built the same way.

Why we're doing this

We're not a big company. We're three people who sat this exam, got frustrated with how it was being taught, and decided to build the thing we wished existed.

What we're building toward

01

Free, every week, not just once

Reading and Listening: unlimited, always. Writing: one graded attempt a day. Speaking: two a week, solo or inside a full mock. No card, no subscription.

02

A score without a reason is close to useless

Every result comes with the actual sentences and patterns that cost you marks, not just a band number.

03

IELTS first, properly. Then PTE.

We're building for IELTS first so it's done right, not rushed. PTE is next on the roadmap, built the same way — real exam conditions, real grading.
