🇪🇬IELTS fee in Egypt: from EGP 9,400

British Council's Cairo centre charges EGP 9,400 for the standard Academic or General Training test right now. IDP's Heliopolis centre prices the identical test at EGP 10,200, and the UKVI version costs EGP 10,650 through British Council or EGP 11,500 through IDP. At the current rate of roughly 50.5 EGP to the dollar, that's about $186 to $228 depending on provider and test type. The pound floated in March 2024, dropped about 38% against the dollar within days, and has kept drifting lower since, so that fee buys less than the same EGP number would have two years ago. Neither provider discounts a second attempt: miss your band and you pay the full fee again. Egypt does offer the IELTS One Skill Retake for candidates who sat the computer test at an eligible centre and rebook within 60 days, but neither British Council nor IDP publishes a fixed EGP price for it online, and it only helps if one section, not your overall performance, pulled the score down.

A second sitting in Egypt rarely happens because of weak vocabulary. It happens because the format catches people off guard.
