That IDR 3,600,000 figure, about $203 at the rupiah's current rate near 17,700 to the dollar, is identical at both providers for the standard computer-delivered test. The UKVI version costs more: IDR 4,060,000 on computer, though IDP's South Jakarta centre actually prices paper-based UKVI lower, at IDR 3,951,500. None of that comes with a retake discount. Miss the band your university or visa application needs, and the next attempt costs the same IDR 3,600,000 again (IDR 4,060,000 for UKVI). Both providers offer an IELTS One Skill Retake for candidates whose shortfall is isolated to one section, priced by test-prep sites at around IDR 1,900,000 to 2,200,000 depending on the centre (neither British Council nor IDP publishes an exact figure on its own booking pages). It only helps if the problem is really confined to a single skill. For most people, it isn't.

What usually forces a second attempt isn't weak vocabulary. It's an unfamiliar format. Since 1 July 2026, both providers have also moved to online-only payment (card, QRIS, ShopeePay, Jenius Pay, DOKU Wallet, or virtual account transfer), which cuts down on payment friction but leaves no room for a last-minute cash booking at the centre if a card or e-wallet fails the night before.
